Day to the Beyond
start by saying in this life I was born perfectly in the perfect community with the perfect gentle people in the land of the White Oak tree, I was a Baltimore Baby, then 183 days later, I was moved to the land of many oak trees, Oakland , this is a land where only 1 acorn project in 10000 becomes a tree, queer parentage, tenderness until I turned 8, then the loin came to be, Tenderloin reality, but this story ain't about me, it's about the next incarnation of me
I have walked on this land most of my life
Every corner is connected to story and fate
These streets have memorized my gait
And call to me as I move through today
I have been to many corners of this earth
Searching for my sacred tree
It is an Oak Tree next to a Redwood
We have sat with each other
For many rotations quietly
Not sharing the secret
It was necessary that I not claim the land
Unless I truly felt it’s voice in me
The rhythm of this land tracks my beat
Knows the song my heart sings
I flow with these streets
Current currency
Our priceless being
When the Redwood fell
I found that my days became longer and hotter
The sun began looking directly at me
What a stare
